Managing Partner Thomas A. Denker
Meet Thomas A. Denker the managing partner at Munger • Denker • Ruiz • Barbour.
Mr. Denker was born in Tucson, Arizona, in 1968. After high school, Mr. Denker studied abroad in Istanbul, Turkey. After returning to the United States, he graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia with degrees in both History and Soviet Studies.
Mr. Denker then returned to Tucson and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 1995, where he served as Executive Note Editor of the Arizona Law Review, and where his outstanding scholarship was recognized both with a Charles Ares Fellowship and with coveted membership in the Order of the Coif honorary law society (the law-school equivalent of phi beta kappa).
After law school, Mr. Denker worked as a judicial law clerk to Judge Noel Fidel of the Arizona Court of Appeals, and to Judge James M. Marlar of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, before entering private practice.
Mr. Denker is knowledgeable and experienced in many different areas of the law, and he is regarded within the profession as careful, studious, and creative. Attorneys from across the country regularly seek out Mr. Denker’s advice on various legal issues, and as the firm’s managing partner, Mr. Denker pioneered our team approach to the practice of law. He also is known as one of the country’s best legal writers — a talent that he puts to use as a ferocious advocate for his clients.
Outside the office, Mr. Denker is a devoted family man with a passion for public service. Having grown up in Arizona, his commitment to the state and to its people is clear to all who know him. Mr. Denker is active in his church and in the wider community, and he gives generously of his time and talents, particularly to educational causes. Mr. Denker also has a wide range of personal interests, and has a remarkable knowledge of numerous subjects including botany, history, mathematics, and engineering. When he is not testing his skills as a shade-tree mechanic on his collection of old cars, Mr. Denker spends his time with his wife of thirty-two years, his four children, and his three grandchildren.
